Howard Redekopp :: Mother Mother, Tegan and Sara, The New Pornographers, 54-40

DISCOGRAPHY

Growing up in South Africa in the late 70's, Howard spent his days hanging out in his missionary Dad's recording studio listening to the sounds of African village choirs being mixed for the radio. That early introduction to the technical side of music sealed his fate. As a teenager back home in Canada, he played in his share of garage bands but knew that he really wanted to be on the other side of the mixing board.

Howard went on to play bass in the 90’s with Canadian indie band, Veal, but almost immediately began making his real mark in the Vancouver music scene as a producer, mixer, and engineer. Best known for his production and mix work with Tegan and Sara, and The New Pornographers, Howard is also known for helping to shape the sound of diverse artists such as Hannah Georgas, You Say Party! We Say Die!, and Mother Mother.

Recent credits include producing and engineering Tegan and Sara’s latest album Sainthood together with Chris Walla from Death Cab For Cutie. Howard has just finished producing, engineering, and mixing new material for Bend Sinister, as well as producing and engineering a new EP for The Fast Romantics, which was mixed by Mike Fraser.

Howard produced, engineered, and mixed the 2008 Juno Award winning “Roots and Traditional album of the Year”, Key Principles, by the band Nathan. He has also had the privilege of contributing significantly to albums that have ranked in Rolling Stone Magazine’s “top 50 albums of the year” - in 2003 (New Pornographers’ Electric Version), 2004 (Tegan and Sara’s So Jeaolous), and 2005 (New Pornographers’ Twin Cinema), as well as 2009’s “100 Best Albums of the Decade” (New Pornographers’ Electric Version).
